  5. Old business:
    1. Matters arising from minutes:
      1. Send email to Cleome about sourcing a TH400 "slip yoke" for VW conversion.
      2. Korean students: concern expressed about male/female split. If there are way more girls than boys, sleeping arrangements might be difficult.
      3. Adam & Grace: two-pronged approach. Adam working on spouse sponsorship; Jan working on work permit.
      4. Apparently, Sally S. is expecting a call.
      5. Check into what it takes to import ducklings.
      6. Touch base with recent visitors.
      7. Rudy has not disposed of illegal plants. He will be given one more day, then they will be removed.
    2. Project updates:
      1. Electric market vehicle:
        • Need to fabricate coupler, mounting adaptor, and battery mounting. Need a GM Turbo-hydromatic 400 "slip yoke" for making a coupler.
        • Jan did not retrieve free mounting bracket from Olympia. Could not find contact info, may try again.
      2. Upcoming classes and events:
        • Korean middle school students scheduled for 21 July through 4 August. Will express concern over boy/girl ratio.
      3. Recruiting:
        • Tara B., currently at Cranberry Commons, visiting 2 June.
    3. Health and safety concerns and updates:
      • Dan would like to use lawn furniture for hanging out outside. He was directed to chairs and stuff.
  6. New business:
    1. AGREED: that in addition to prior agreement for obtaining Bytesmiths' GS1 barcode assets, Bytesmiths and EcoReality Co-op agree that Bytesmiths will no longer use the GS1 Company Prefix Number "676072," and that any Bytesmiths' inventory bar-coded with this Company Prefix Number becomes the property of EcoReality Co-op. Further, both parties acknowledge that the Oregon registered business name, "Bytesmiths," represented a sole proprietorship owned by Jan Steinman, who now works full time for EcoReality, in which he has approximately 30% ownership interest.
    • Taara did not deliver on 16 May as expected. We continue to check her often, but may boost her due date to 6 June if she doesn't deliver in the next few days.
  7. Review arrivals/departures, guests and apprentices:
    • Cleome leaving tomorrow at 13:50, back 23-26 May.
    • Korean middle-school students: 21 July through 4 August, perhaps longer.
  8. Farm meeting:
    • Items to track (rough priority order):
      1. Continue planting:
        • Direct seeding in west garden, carrots, potatoes, summer squash.
        • Transplant Oregon Spring and Beaverlodge tomatoes and squashes in west garden.
        • Continue to transplant lettuce in west garden.
        • Add two wire trellises for cane berry transplants in west garden, between and to the east of existing trellises.
        • Plant currants along fence in west garden, just north of west gate.
      2. Weed and mulch chestnuts and blueberries in east garden.
      3. Construct beds in greenhouse west room.
      4. Finish cleaning out freezer in farm store -- mouldy fluid needs to be dumped.
      5. Make some "salad boats" out of cut-off portions of seedling trays
      6. Decant pear vinegar and clean out blue barrel.
      7. Get at least one chain saw working and continue harvesting wood.
      8. Clean up farm store area in prep for construction.
      9. Replace water timer in west room of greenhouse.
      10. Cleome contact Gavin about putting manure on fields he leases from us. (in process)
      11. Fix sickle bar in prep for spring mowing.
      12. Fix big rototiller -- won't run for more than a minutes or so; investigate fuel blockage -- back burner, winter project.
        • Shop for small diesel for power rototiller.
      13. Investigate using small greenhouse as a food dehydrator.
      14. Fix dining room ceiling.
        • Move dining room stuff into living room.
        • Plastic-wrap dining room in prep for ceiling demolition.
    • Items recently completed:
      1. Prepare soil in west garden. DONE!
      2. Seed large tray of 8cc blocks in lettuce. DONE!
      3. Move the glass canning jars out of the Yellow House parking lot into the Ikea shed. DONE!
      4. File Annual Report with BC Corporate Registry. DONE!
    • Plans for the week:
      • Greenhouse and west garden work.
      • BC Hydro letter.
      • Work permits.
      • Mulch onions and potatoes.
      • Fix tractor front tyres.
      • Fix Dodge voltage regulator.
      • Make template of VW transmission for fabrication of electric motor adaptor.
      • Continue building raised beds.
      • Plant more lettuce.
