Annual General Meeting

  1. Agenda approved
  2. Minutes of last year's Annual General Meeting reviewed and approved.
  3. AGREED: EcoReality Co-op will not use an external auditor, as required by law unless agreed otherwise.
  4. Annual finance report received, as required by law of annual general meetings.
  5. Directors' reports received, as required by law of annual general meetings.
  6. AGREED: unanimously to the following election of directors, as required by law of annual general meetings:
    • Cleome Rowe: Farm Steward
    • Adam Perry: at large
    • Jan Steinman: Communication Steward
  7. AGREED: that no dividend be declared on any class of shares this year.
  8. Date of next Annual General Meeting tentatively set for 28 March 2015.

  5. Old business:
    1. Matters arising from minutes: nothing noted
    2. Project updates:
      1. Upcoming classes and events: Jan to give biodiesel demonstration at renewable energy conference at the high school, tomorrow, April 5.
      2. Recruiting:
        • Need to follow-up with Margrette, who contacted us via FIC website.
        • Document in support of Grace's immigration sent to Adam. Jan will try to get her a work permit as well.
    3. Health and safety concerns and updates: none noted.
  6. New business:
    • Electricity use reviewed. New heated tables are costing about $20/month.
    • Other March stats not reviewed.
  7. Review arrivals/departures, guests and apprentices:
    • Clover, Eddie, and Paisley visited last Friday through Monday; helped hatch chicks.
    • Wylie visited Thursday.
    • We received a Canada Summer Jobs grant, request that it be offered to Wylie.
      • AGREED: We will offer Wylie a summer job, based on the CSJ grant.
    • Mary Coll and kids Chloe and Finn visited last Monday through Friday, and were great fun to have around!
    • Barbara left last Monday — thanks for all your help, Barbara!
    • Micayla scheduled for two weeks or longer at the end of April.
  8. Farm meeting:
    • Items to track (rough priority order):
      1. Fix freeze-damaged irrigation manifolds in greenhouse.
    • Pears need to be graded into goat food and compost.
      1. Transplant tomatoes.
      2. Make two more tables hot.
      3. Finish cleaning out freezer in farm store -- mouldy fluid needs to be dumped.
      4. Shop for small diesel for power rototiller.
      5. Make some "salad boats" out of cut-off portions of seedling trays
      6. Decant pear vinegar and clean out blue barrel.
      7. Get at least one chain saw working and continue harvesting wood.
      8. Clean up farm store area in prep for construction.
      9. Replace water timer in west room of greenhouse.
      10. Cleome contact Gavin about putting manure on fields he leases from us. (in process)
      11. Get cedar slabs and bark from Shane for projects and path mulch. (in process)
      12. Complete irrigation plumbing in greenhouse after locating and levelling tables. In process as tables are positioned and levelled.
      13. Fix sickle bar in prep for spring mowing.
      14. Move the glass canning jars out of the Yellow House parking lot into the Ikea shed.
      15. Fix big rototiller -- won't run for more than a minutes or so; investigate fuel blockage -- back burner, winter project.
      16. Investigate using small greenhouse as a food dehydrator.
      17. Fix dining room ceiling.
        • Move dining room stuff into living room.
        • Plastic-wrap dining room in prep for ceiling demolition.
    • Items recently completed:
      • Built eleven raised beds for south side of east room. Cleats installed and beds partially dug on north side.
      • Yams and physalis put in three of the new raised beds.
      • Planted two rows of potatoes, three potato cages planted. (Three more to go.)
      • Water manifold in prop room moved and soil mix bin built and filled.
    • Plans for the week:
      • Jan talk at Renewable Energy Conference tomorrow (Sunday).
      • BC Hydro letter.
      • Wylie offer letter.
      • Work permits.
      • Purchase 46 drip tape valves for expanded bed space.
      • File Annual Report with BC Corporate Registry.
      • Mulch onions and potatoes.
      • Fix tractor front tyres.
      • Continue building raised beds.
      • Compose marketing collateral for veggie starts.
      • Plant more lettuce.
