  6. New business:
    1. AGREED: to repeat 2013 monthly themes for 2014.
    2. Review and prioritize current projects
      • Tabled due to time constraints.
  7. Review arrivals/departures, guests and apprentices:
    • Mindy must check out with Peace Arch CIC no later than 1 December.
      • To save ferry expenses, Cleome & Jan will pick her up an 30 November, take her to Peace Arch customs, and bring her back to the ferry. Jan will prepare an additional letter. If she is denied re-entry, Cleome will take her to Olympia, and we will work out some way to get her car and personal possessions back.
    • We may need milking help December 31, as Mindy will leave before Jan arrives back from Michigan.
    • Jan & Cleome to Michigan, Dec 24-31.
  8. Farm meeting:
    • Awash in sunchokes; need to preserve, prepare, or sell them!
    • Winter gardening desires: kale, collards, sweet onions (for spring starts), mescluns, raab broccoli, spinach, mache.
      • Have all but collards and mescluns.
    • Items to track (rough priority order):
      1. Prep for cider making.
      2. Make pear cider.
      3. Make tomato sauce from last of tomatoes. One big batch done, still a lot in the west room of greenhouse.
      4. Get fuel for tractor.
      5. Get at least one chain saw working and continue harvesting wood.
      6. Make mini-root cellar for potatoes.
      7. Clean up farm store area in prep for construction.
        • Empty freezer in farm store, feed to chickens.
      8. Clean up classroom and cloakroom.
      9. Harvest rose hips after first hard frost.
      10. Replace water timer in west room of greenhouse.
      11. Jan contact Gavin about putting manure on fields he leases from us.
      12. Get cedar slabs and bark from Shane for projects and path mulch.
      13. Plant winter garden in greenhouse where the cukes were.
      14. Move Physalis to warm tables.
      15. Chipping -- Jan check mill for cedar bark for prop room floor. (Jan Steinman)
      16. Jan and others: re-arrange the greenhouse tables.
      17. Complete irrigation plumbing in greenhouse after locating and levelling tables. In process as tables are positioned and levelled.
      18. Fix sickle bar and do mowing.
      19. Need to move the glass canning jars out of the Yellow House parking lot before they get broken.
        • Find a place to put jars!
      20. Fix big rototiller -- won't run for more than a minutes or so; investigate fuel blockage -- back burner, winter project.
      21. Investigate using small greenhouse as a food dehydrator.
      22. Fix dining room ceiling.
    • Tracked items recently completed:
      1. Move cane berries. DONE!
      2. Store west garden irrigation. DONE!
      3. Harvest pumpkins after first frost. DONE!
      4. Continue monitoring the big pear tree and pick when it begins to really fall. DONE!
      5. Set up two cages in greenhouse for pear storage. DONE!
      6. Pull up and store field irrigation in prep for winter cover crops. DONE!
  9. Confirmed next meeting: Next residents' meeting: Jan facilitator, Saturday, 23 November 2013, 09:00. Note new meeting time, due to earlier milking due to Daylight Savings Time.
