  4. Minutes of past two meetings, 5 August 2013 and 12 August 2013, reviewed and approved.
  5. Old business:
    1. Matters arising from minutes:
      • Noted in "Farm Meeting" portion, below.
    2. Project updates:
      1. Upcoming classes and events: none scheduled
      2. Recruiting:
        • Second reply to Naeem & Dawn sent, but no reply, so we must assume they are no longer planning to visit in September.
    3. Health and safety concerns and updates: none this week.
  6. New business:
    1. Reviewed July harvest, sales, labour, and productivity.
  7. Review arrivals/departures, guests and apprentices:
    • Cleome returned on Wednesday.
    • Diana Leafe Christian arrived Thursday and stayed until Saturday morning.
    • Gretchen and Espi leaving on Wednesday.
    • Nicholas here through 25th.
    • Cleome waiting on job interviews before making travel plans, but must return to the US by the 30th.
  8. Farm meeting:
    • Items to track (rough priority order):
      1. Fix sickle bar and do mowing.
      2. Print more time sheets.
      3. [x] Complete harvest of gojis and lavender drying in small greenhouse. (Jan Steinman)
      4. Plant biggest Physalis into the small planters we bought.
      5. [x] Trellis tomatoes along the aisle in the west room of greenhouse. (Rudy Siegers)
      6. [x] Get cedar slabs and bark from Shane for projects and path mulch. (Jan Steinman)
      7. [x] Build bigger planters for Physalis. Shoot for 8' to 9', depending on what we can get from Shane. (Jan Steinman)
      8. [x] Process garlic when it is dried enough. Any time now! (Jan Steinman)
      9. Chipping -- Jan check mill for cedar bark for prop room floor. (Jan Steinman)
      10. Do something with the remaining goldenberries (many have been transplanted already).
      11. Jan and others: re-arrange the greenhouse tables.
      12. Complete irrigation plumbing in greenhouse after locating and levelling tables. In process as tables are positioned and levelled.
      13. Need to move the glass canning jars out of the Yellow House parking lot before they get broken.
      14. Investigate using small greenhouse as a food dehydrator.
      15. Cane berries, moving to west fence of west garden -- wait for fall dormancy.
      16. Fix big rototiller -- won't run for more than a minutes or so; investigate fuel blockage -- back burner, winter project.
      17. Jan: begin making horsetail/nettle tea to keep powdery mildew and other fungus down. -- back burner for when humidity increases.
    • Tracked items recently completed:
      1. Fix water timer for east field. Cleome reports this is no longer a problem.
      2. Get more horse manure from North Saanich. Ongoing, with a big load brought over last Wednesday.
      3. Cut up firewood-sized branches and logs that are lying around. DONE! Thanks, Rudy, Nicholas, and Chris.
      4. Complete goat fencing. DONE! Thanks, Cleome!
      5. Continue successional plantings of lettuce -- removed, it's getting too late for this.
    • Work party Friday: nothing planned.
