  5. Old business:
    1. Matters arising from minutes:
      • Ron's trailer is being useful, and neighbour who wanted it has not surfaced, so it will stay for now.
      • Rudy has crafted a new cash box for the roadside stand.
      • Other items noted in "Farm Meeting" portion, below.
    2. Project updates:

  6. New business: none this week.
  7. Review arrivals/departures, guests and apprentices:
    • Will vacated on Friday, leaving a cryptic note.
    • Tony in last Thursday, back out until today sometime.
    • Cleome returned yesterday.
    • Cleome gone September 1 for a wedding.
    • Cleome gone around August 10 for a short trip to Toronto.
    • Cleome back to Washington around end of August.
    • No word about Mindy (possible summer intern), who was getting her extended driver license.
    • Chris & Ginny, booked as volunteers beginning July 21, have just sent regrets.
    • Nao, Sho, and Meg supposed to be coming Aug 1, but there are still details to work out.
    • Gretchen & Espi coming July 29 through August 22; Espi will stay while Gretchen goes to Oregon for a week of Permaculture Teacher Training.
    • Brent enthusiastic about tenting here and working.
  8. Farm meeting:
    • Items to track (rough priority order):
      1. Fix water timer for east field.
      2. Get several loads of horse manure from Kringle Horse Farm, $25/load.
      3. Harvest lavender for sale and save about a gallon of florets for culinary use.
      4. Harvest garlic as ready.
      5. Mulch strawberries with maple leaves.
      6. Transplant sugar beets somewhere, SOON!
      7. Direct seed:
        • Getting too late for much more planting. Can continue successional plantings of lettuce.
      8. Fix big rototiller -- won't run for more than a minutes or so; investigate fuel blockage.
      9. Cane berries, moving to west fence of west garden -- wait for fall dormancy.
      10. Rototill west room in greenhouse:
        1. Move chickens to pasture after Gavin cuts hay.
        2. Move tables and wood out.
        3. Pick up irrigation line and prep for tilling
      11. Jan and others: re-arrange the greenhouse tables.
      12. Complete irrigation plumbing in greenhouse after locating and levelling tables. In process as tables are positioned and levelled.
        • De-taping cardboard for sheet mulching.
      13. Need to move the glass canning jars out of the Yellow House parking lot before they get broken.
      14. Investigate using small greenhouse as a food dehydrator.
      15. Chipping -- Jan check mill for cedar bark for prop room floor.
      16. Jan: begin making horsetail/nettle tea to keep powdery mildew and other fungus down.
    • Tracked items recently completed:
      1. Rudy got two loads of horse manure; we need to get more.
      2. Elastrate bucklings. DONE!
      3. Goat fencing made secure around west of Yellow House.
      4. Weeding east strawberry beds. DONE!
      5. Tent caterpillars: don't seem to be a problem any more.
      6. Fix chicken fencing with plywood gussets, replacing members as needed. DONE! (almost!)
      7. Reduce priority of fixing Vanagon, since we've been concentrating on wholesale, rather than market.
      8. Rudy will contact Moats to have more cardboard delivered. DONE!
