  4. Minutes of past meeting, 10 April 2013, reviewed and approved, with one correction to Jen's son's name.
  5. Old business:
    1. Matters arising from minutes: nothing noted
    2. Project updates:
      1. Upcoming classes and events:
        • May 1 funders meeting planning:
          • Jen will prepare a cheap, massive lunch.
          • Jan will ensure our canopy (which was loaned out last year) is in working condition, so we can have a picnic if weather cooperates.
          • Jen has a tent that can be used for emergency lodging, although attendees are being encouraged to seek lodging.
      2. Recruiting:
        • (See event planning, above).
      3. EcoNest cottage:
        • Jan talked to Robert on Friday, and has the following action items:
          • Contact Andrew the excavator to get an estimate for site prep work.
          • Talk to Neddy about involving the Land Bank Society.
          • Robert in touch with engineer Ted Burch and Alan B, a relator who might be of help.
          • Jan will contact Caitlyn again about re-zoning.
          • Work on rezoning proceeding; research on septic/greywater complete -- need to write it up, perhaps 10-20 hours of work.
    3. Update on farm steward recruiting:
      • Jen, India, and Benjamin are here, and are having fun and getting stuff done!
    4. Health and safety concerns and updates: none noted
  6. New business: none noted
    1. AGREED: India Brackley is the new egg steward, and will work with Jan to come up with a suitable job description.
  7. Review arrivals/departures, guests and apprentices:
    • Carol has formally requested redemption of her shares, which will take place in accordance with the agreement she, Jan, and the co-op made regarding the rate of redemption. This agreement does not affect transfers of shares approved by the board.
    • Jen & kids arrived on Saturday the 13th -- welcome!
    • Jess moved out on Sunday the 14th.
    • Tony moving in sometime next week.
  8. Farm meeting:
    • Tent caterpillars are starting to hatch. Jen and Jan will look for egg masses to cut off and destroy.
    • Jen & Rudy are working on removing grass from around the greenhouse. When gone, we can put gravel or something similar around the base.
    • Tony volunteered to work on trenching and draining the greenhouse.
    • All: planting and soil blocks.
    • Jan and others: re-arrange the greenhouse tables in preparation for massive numbers of starts.
    • Jan/Jen: begin making horsetail/nettle tea to keep powdery mildew and other fungus down.
    • Jen will soak some hard seeds (pumpkin, melons, squash) in prep for soil blocking.
    • Rudy/Jen/India/Brooklyn will begin weeding the two strawberry beds, and will capture nice looking babies for sale in pots.
    • Jen/Jan will work up a couple beds in the west garden by hand.
    • Jan plant potatoes in west garden after beds prepped.
    • India/Brooklyn: de-taping cardboard for sheet mulching.
    • Jen will investigate making some nice goat name tags for their collars.
    • Rudy will investigate producing micro greens in flats.
    • Rudy continuing to work on culturing morels.
    • Jen will prepare several trays of soil blocks in prep for Friday's work party.
