  1. Meeting starts 09:00

  3. Agenda approved.
  4. Minutes of previous meeting, 2012-07-18, approved; matters arising discussed.
  5. Old business:
    • To do reviewed; mark off "tennis ball" items as no longer relevant.
    • Calendar reviewed.
    • Project updates:
      • Upcoming classes and events:
        • Song writing workshop postponed for one week.
        • Shall we continue with jelly making workshop last Sunday in August? Needs to be promoted.
      • Necessary changes in involvement in EcoReality no changes.
      • Goat shed II
        • deck snugged up to trailer and levelled.
        • Needs internal latches and feeders installed.
      • Commercial propagation greenhouse:
        • Corner tear repaired.
        • Need door rollers built (welding a washer on rebar and pounding it in).
        • Plumb prop room headers and finish two tables, then close the project!
        • Would like to close out this capital project soon, but the last expenses for irrigation may drag out a bit.
      • Emergency power: on hold until next fall; need to have in place by next winter.
      • Yellow house suite - no change until at least the 21st. Dave is interested and may fund remodelling.
      • Water system maintenance - Still need to haul out and repair old cistern and fill in the hole in the ground.
  6. Health & safety: no concerns raised.
  7. New business:
    • Request agreement to proceed with produce cooling shed, if funding becomes available.
      • Ben suggests it become a no-cost community workshop -- use community labour to cut costs, should be of interest to others.
      • AGREED: to proceed with produce cooling shed, pending funding. Jan has sent the project abstract to a potential funder. We will settle on a date over the next few meetings.
    • Request default work party be "Firewood Fridays." We need to harvest eight cords of dry fallen deadwood before the heating season!
      • AGREED: to work on firewood on Fridays, unless higher priority work needs to get done.
  8. Arrivals/Departures:
    • Kelly leaving today -- thanks for all your help!
    • Jonathan arriving next Wednesday.
    • Jan going to Duncan right after meeting to deliver Kelly and to pick up irrigation siphon parts.
  9. Farm meeting:
    • Last Friday's work party, "whip cane berries into shape," a great success!"
    • Change work party to Thursday this week, to help across the street.
    • Markets:
      • Saturday - Ben will open, Jan at 1pm to close.
      • Tuesday - Ben & Jan.
    • Upcoming volunteers:
      • Jonathan - August 1 - 31.
      • Laura Oxley - August 13 - 29.
      • Mother/daughter pair from Calgary: Jan will phone them.
  10. Plans for next week:
    • Ben: spray aphids
    • Ben: fertigate greenhouse
    • Jan: complete goat shed II.
    • Jan: begin re-engineering goat fencing.
    • Jan: Trim goat hooves.
    • Jan: Geo's washing machine.
    • Jan: Complete greenhouse tables and irrigation, close Project 126 expenditures and reconcile project.
