  • Approved last week's minutes.
  • Budget reminder to stewards - please get your budgets to Finance Steward for 2010. (2)
  • Labour policy: (15)
    • Dennis introduced that this topic has been discussed by James, Shannon and Jan outside the meeting
    • Jan suggested that further discussions continue one on one outside of meetings to discover where group is in alignment and where differing
    • Next step: Dennis will move the following to the Talk:Labour policy and send an email asking all residents to comment:
      • clarify difference between residents/members/nonresidents
      • number of hours worked
      • what constitutes community work?
      • what tasks are we actually spending our time on?
      • What are people's monthly time budgets for stewardships and areas of responsibility?
      • How do we approve time that people can claim on their forms?
      • Accountability: When do we reconcile from previous months and collect from people who have hour shortages?
  • Agreement process when EcoReality is invited to harvest from other farms. (Shannon) (10)
    • Discussion touched on importance of reciprocation and clear communication, including writing (Even if verbal agreement is reached, that the person from EcoReality negotiating the barter will write it down and reflect it back to the other party)
    • Bring request to the community first to be sure there is adequate preparation and labour on hand to fulfill the agreement
    • Shannon will write this up and rather than a formal policy, it will be EcoReality External Trade Guidelines for review at next meet
  • Presentation regarding community farmland (10) — Jan Steinman 23:11, 8 October 2009 (UTC).
    • ACTION: [x] Jan will prepare a formal letter of interest for November (third Thurs of month) Farmers Institute board meeting (Jan Steinman)
    • discussion on this topic summary: give our intent to help manage, be respectful and be clear that we are not promising particulars for agricultural labour etc.
  • Update on land purchase issues:
    • FYI: Jan reviewed that land purchase tax is still being negotiated and clarified with Jim Pasuta's help. Ongoing, deadline is Oct 31, 2009.
  • Representation and position at Burgoyne Bay Park focus group
    • Lion's Hall on Wed, 21 Oct 4-6pm -- can go with Jan
  • RV for Bartsch-Lamrock clan idea was introduced by Brenden for four reasons that he presented are of priority to them.
    • Found one that may be sold in 14 days for an 'exquisite' price. They may be requesting permission from EcoReality to bring this vehicle on the property in the near future.
  • Membership interviews possible Oct 28-31 for Brenden and Susie Anne
    • Susie Anne offered to coordinate schedules with members for these meetings
  • Arrivals, departures, guests, apprentices:
    • Brenden leaves 15th-27th
    • Susie Anne leaves 15th-28th
    • Dennis back Thursday 15th
    • James will be away Wednesday 28th for the day
    • Composting meeting Friday 16th 18:30-19:30
    • Next resident's meeting Monday 19th 9:30 am
  • All Checked out and many were feeling closer and more connected. All agreed we want more heart connection - make it happen informally and on Friday composting meeting with those on the property.
