Sunday 15 March 2009: Residents' Meeting

  • Check in
    • Shannon – 7.5 – Not happy to leave Sienna in the state she’s in.
    • James – 8 – Head still stuck up a chimney.
    • Jan – 9 – Lots on the agenda.
    • Carol – 7 – My usual tired.
    • Susie Anne – 9.5 – Kids were a bit rangy and I have a cold. Still. Again.
    • Roxane – 9 – Good. Talked to boyfriend.


  • Agenda/Minutes:
    • Agenda approved. Skipping the to do list this time.
    • Approved last week's minutes.
    • Reviewed projects – We chose a steward for each project.
    • Recycling --Carol Wagner.
      • AGREED The White House and the Yellow House will take turns bringing the recycling in to the depot.
      • ACTION [x] Carol will create some way for us to identify which house’s turn it is to take recycling in. (Carol Wagner)
    • Discuss ING potluck April 1st at EcoReality: ad hoc steward of event?, location preferences, extra dishes, agreement on use of kitchen(s), sending out notice to ING list, etc. Shan 22:04, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
      • ACTION [x] Shannon will steward the set up of dining space for ING potluck. (Shannon Cowan)
      • The potluck will take place in the Yellow House.
      • ACTION [x] James will talk with Osha about what EcoReality will bring to the ING potluck. (James Cowan)
      • ACTION [x] Jan will ask people to bring their own serving utensils as well as their own plates and cutlery to the ING potluck. (Jan Steinman)
      • ACTION [x] 2 plastic tables will be brought over for the ING potluck. (Nobody)
      • There will be a tour of the farm at 5pm.
      • Dinner 6pm
      • Meeting 7pm.
    • What to do with next Friday's manure.
      • Kyle has offered to bring his kids and his truck.
      • ACTION [x] Both houses will make their own lunches (for Friday work party). Kyle and family will be fed at the White House. (Nobody)
    • Willow gathering.
      • ACTION [x] We need to locate willow. If not on the property we will need to ask permission. (Nobody)
      • We will need 200-400 willow stalks.
      • Carol would like pussy willows.
      • ACTION [x] We will need about 8 buckets or the bathtub. Susie Anne will prepare the bathtub to receive the new willow cuttings. (Susie Anne Bartsch)
      • ACTION [x] Carol and Susie Anne will put the existing willows into the ground Wednesday. (Susie Anne Bartsch)

      • ACTION [x] James will send photos of the wood shed to Tom Woods for his opinion. (James Cowan)
      • ACTION [x] Jan will consult the building inspector about the idea of two 64’ woodsheds with 2’ in between them. (Jan Steinman)
    • Roxane update.
      • Roxane has clearly expressed that she is working alone way more than she wants to.
      • ACTION [x] Residents will make an effort to buddy up with Roxane on her work days. (Nobody)
    • Update on the White house fly infestation. The fly situation on the outside of the house is quite extreme and does need to be dealt with. (Susie Anne)
    • Discuss guest rates. Is the current guest rate adequate for covering costs of hosting guests? Is the current co-op reimbursement rate to residents for hosting WWOOFers adequate for covering costs? Is it a possibility that off site members could pay the lower rate when visiting EcoReality?       • ACTION [x] Residents will look into what the costs of hosting people for food and utilities really are. Discussion went along the lines that the pricing we currently have is an accurate reflection of real costs. (James Cowan)
    • Arrivals and departures:
      • Caroline and Cambria will stay for two more nights and depart on Wednesday.
      • Carol is the official steward of Sunshine the van.
      • Roxane will stay until March 27 or 28.
