Sunday 8 February 2009: Residents' Meeting

    • James – 8.5 – Didn’t sleep well, knee hurts, wood, hinges….
    • Jan – 9 – Not frustrated at all. Water off his back.
    • Carol – 5 – She’s happy to be alive.
    • Susie Anne – 8.5 – physical aches but in good spirits.

  • Agenda/Minutes:
    • Approved last week's minutes.
    • Agenda approved.
    • Report on Harry's berries; transplanting planning. —Jan Steinman 05:42, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
      • We have permission to get raspberries when Harry is away.
      • ACTION [x] We need to prepare the site for where raspberries are going to go. (Shannon Cowan)
      • ACTION [x] Carol and Shannon will steward the removal of the grass to about 18’ in the rows where raspberries will be transplanted. (Carol Wagner)
      • ACTION [x] We will bring soil from the berm followed by mulch for raspberries. (Shannon Cowan)
        • The sod will compost if laid upside down and covered completely.
        • The exact how to of the rows has been tabled.
      • ACTION [x] We need to agree on a time to get raspberries from Harry. Friday, February 20th with WWOOF help. Jan will steward this part of the process. (Jan Steinman)
      • ACTION [x] Harry also has a 10-12 ton cedar tree cut in 8’ sections that we could have. Jan will tell him we are interested in it. (Jan Steinman)

      • ACTION [x] We will try this wood for one more week and re-evaluate at next resident meeting. (James Cowan)
      • ACTION [x] Susie Anne and Shannon will contact Carol about supporting with meals during the week with all the people coming. Tuesday night is a priority one for Carol. (Susie Anne Bartsch)
      • James and Jan discussed including special WWOOF funds in project budgets ongoingly.
      • Review the task list. We reviewed the entire list and edited where appropriate.
    • Review garden and farm issues.
      • Shannon has created a drawing of the garden plan for people to brainstorm with. She will show it to Jan and Carol and discuss at the end of the meeting.
    • Review arrivals/departures, guests and apprentices.
      • Silvana will be leaving tomorrow.
      • James will be gone with Erica (the Passat) on February 10-11th to Victoria for ambulance stuff.
      • Chris and Sarah will be arriving to WWOOF on February 9th for one to two weeks.
    • ACTION [x] We are all planning to attend Seedy Saturday. We will explore carpooling in Sunshine. (Jan Steinman)
      • Dennis may be arriving on short notice if he is able.
    • Chicken questions are tabled until a special meeting that is now scheduled for Sunday, February 15 at 9:45am.
      • ACTION [x] The White House crew will get childcare for Sunday morning to have a special chicken/animal meeting with all residents. (Susie Anne Bartsch)
      • We will not take 30 Isa-Brown chickens in Errinton that are free or cheap and need to be picked up. This is not a priority for us at this time.
