Sunday 28 December 2008: Current challenges Meeting

  • Meeting brought to order: 10:40
  • Present: members: James Cowan, Shannon Cowan, Jan Steinman, Carol Wagner, Mark Stiffler, Penny Pobiecke, Rudy Siegers, Morris Lamrock, and Susie Anne Bartsch.

    • Shannon- 9.99 - tension in shoulders, feeling fantastic, trepidation about ....
    • James- 10 - liked starting with the heart circle.
    • Penny - 10 - twinkle.
    • Jan- 9- not fully caffeinated, wanting to be outside, thinking of things to do.
    • Carol- 9 - in the now.
    • Morris - 7 - body, 9.5 heart and mind.
    • Susie Anne - 6 - body, 9.5 otherwise, happy.
    • Mark - 9 - needed rest, got it;here; tried to wrap up work, didn't happen.
    • Rudy - 9 - have needs to be addressed, uncertainties.
  • Retreat Intro
    • This is our retreat, we want it to be stress free and have fun. There maybe some role changes of facilitators and that is OK. Ask for any support that is needed. Daily review at breakfast. Check in at lunch for afternoon activities. Recap space usage at the end of the week. Any suggestions for "icebreakers" before the evening session would be appreciated.
    • People coming late: Scott, Shel & Christy, Stacy (31st - 3rd)
    • New Years Party - 7:00 pm, music and fun, stay up late.

    • Talent Show - see Susie Anne for sign up sheet.

Sunday 28 December 2008: Member's Meeting

Approved Agenda Approved November 29 minutes

  • Old business:
    • Dwelling equity formula discussion
      • How many can live here before rezoning? There is everything between grey areas and legally. We don't want to upset the apple cart.
      • What is working well?
        • Dwellings and investment structures; equitable process; lots of thought went into it; general structure is sound; common vocabularies; vision towards egalitarian lifestyle; there is a container for the number's; accountability with good group process; finance and governance IS connected; deeper connections; new, complicated, does not fit in any box.
      • What is NOT working well?
        • Classroom structure/rates; James is feeling that the classroom structure is too big a burden on Jan & Carol. James will write up a formal stewardship role for the classroom.
  • New business:
    • Stewards' Council:
      • Shannon - Ecology, nothing to report
      • Carol - Finance, will e-mail reports
      • Jan - Communication, nothing to report
      • James - Program, thinking about Spring Retreat
    • Newsletter - Theme - Outdoor Kitchen, deadline: 21 Jan 2009
      • Shannon - Group process that builds community
      • Penny - research outdoor kitchens from other communities
      • Mark - affected existence
    • Time sheets for November due 15 December, sheets for December due 15 Jan 2009
    • Water rights strategy - If we and 3 Point Properties cannot agree, the Ministry of Environment, Water Stewardship Division, will divide the water rights based on area, which would be about 60/40, with EcoReality getting about 40%. Per Jan's calculations, we should get 55%. 'Approved' the strategy.
    • Mark is proposing a new stewardship for discussion. Comments about the ease of use of the wiki are all across the board. Mark wants to make it more user friendly. Suggested name: Website steward
    • Travel schedules: Jan & Carol to Oregon 5-12 January (dates not confirmed); Mark & Penny not sure about their trip here in January.
