Organized by zone of the farm (labeled by capital letters), the major functional “area of operations” that require planning and care schedules or recorded resource lists are itemized below. This can become a linked series of spreadsheets – each sheet to chart the needs for a given area of operations within each of the given zones.

A. FOOD GARDEN

Soil and Nutrient Management

  • Manure sourcing, timing, incorporation details (time, amount, required operation)
  • Cover crops/green manures

Planting Plan

  • Plant list (food and medicine): seed #/ordering, crop needs care and details, companions, harvest organs and details, seeds harvest details
  • Design: size of beds, Goals for # individuals planted per crop in select areas, rotations based on permaculture principles, co-plantings, timing
  • Herbaceous perennial borders

Greenhouse

  • Physical space resources
  • Procedures and Seedling Care Schedule

Irrigation

  • Resources
  • Design
  • Schedule of Maintenance and Operations

Post-Harvest

  • Market details per crop: washing, fresh, drying, canning, expressing oil, etc.
  • Crop residue storage details
  • Seed harvest, cleaning and storage details
  • Labelling system details (including how to name and date all items grown at Ecoreality)

B. EAST ORCHARD

  • Cover crops/green manures – livestock manuring details
  • Weed management: list of weeds and care schedule
  • Disease and Pest management: list of pests and diseases, resources to be used and care schedule

  • Perennial Herbaceous border plantings
  • Design: mapping of trees and shrubs in Orchard
  • Propagation/Pruning details

  • Care Schedule: Feed+Water: source, cost, application rates, containers used, etc.
  • List of potential or actual diseases, resources to be used and care schedule

Stock Habitat Management

  • Potential predators list
  • Fencing Care Schedule: and sources, labour, costs, etc.
  • Area and bedding details
  • Internal space details: trailer? (size, parameters, design, operations), etc.

Post-Harvest

  • Market details per stock:

Operations for stock type “harvest”: cleaning, transportation etc.
