Carbon dioxide

From MediaWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Carbon dioxide is a colorless, odorless gas. It traps heat in the atmosphere by allowing short wave energy in, which is absorbed by the earth and re-radiated as long wave energy, which the carbon dioxide traps. Thus, increasing amounts of carbon dioxide cause the earth to warm.

Excess carbon dioxide is also causing excess ocean acidification, which impacts the ability of marine creatures to build their calcium carbonate shells.
