EcoReality has a Labour policy in which each member is required to work a certain number of hours. The minimum number of hours is set low enough that every member should be able to work their minimum number of hours in a given month, even with a busy life. There is a mechanism for monthly hour shortfalls built into the labour policy (paying $15 per hour for the shortfall) and banking hours is not recommended. However, Some people do have certain time periods which they know in advance will be very busy and follow a time period in which they can work an hour overage for the co-op. Should a circumstance arise where a member wants to bank hours from a certain period of time to another, the following guidelines are to be followed:
- Make the request as far in advance as possible. The minimum time would be before any hours are worked that would be banked (for example- if you want to work hours in September and bank them to October, make the request for banking hours before August 31).
- Provide an approximation, as accurately as possible of how many hours you will be banking.
- Provide an expiry date on the time period in which the banked hours can be used.
NOTE- Should an emergency arise where you are unable to work some hours in a month (example- distant family issues), please provide as much information to EcoReality as possible and a proposal as to how many hours you can actually work and how you might be able to make up the time (if possible). These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
